Kibbeh Pie (Kibbeh bil sanieh)

If you’re out of options, you can always cook the delicious Kibbeh bil sanieh , which is a kibbeh pie, to surprise your family and loved ones.

Ingredients (6 servings)

1 Kibbeh dough

1-pound (500g) ground lamb

1 medium onion, chopped

1/4 cup toasted pine nuts

2 tablespoons cooking oil

1/2 teaspoon Bharat (Syrian spice mix)

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Black pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

3 tablespoons ghee

Preparation

At 375 degrees F, preheat the oven. Prepare the filling by sautéing the onion with oil in a cooking pot until soft. Stir in the meat and cook until brown. Stir in the nuts, salt, and spices. Grease a 9x13 inches baking pan with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Divide the kibbeh dough in two halves. Spread and press one half of the kibbeh dough in the greased baking pan. Add the kibbeh filling on top of the dough. Spread the other half of the dough and cover the filling. Brush the top of the pie with olive oil. Bake it for about 25 minutes in the preheated oven and broil for 5 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
